These are rejected logo designs for Good Neighbors, a retirement community in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

Both logos use the brownstone buildings that abound in Fort Greene as inspiration for the designs. The first is a representational image of a brownstone window. The second is an abstracted architectural detail from a brownstone facade. These designs were rejected in favor of a third one I designed, which also uses the architectural detail but evokes a different mood.

I’d be curious to know how many people would have picked one of these rejects over the one the client went with. Alas, I haven’t any poll widgets so I suppose I’ll never know. Oh but wait, there’s a heart counter above! There you have it. The polls are open.
